Woods Designs 30 Series

Combining performance, style and comfort

Woods Designs have successfully designed catamarans that combine cruising and racing without compromising either. This is clearly shown in the Woods Designs 30 Series, a range of boats based on 30ft hulls and Sagitta is the performance cruiser of the range.

The saloon features all round vision through forward facing windows and the two entrances from the cockpit with perspex doors. In the saloon, attractive seating and table provide comfortable areas to relax and eat. This area can easily convert to a king size berth if required. The well designed galley is in the starboard hull and is fitted with sink, 2 burner hob, eye level oven and grill and plenty of worksurfaces. Opening ports provide ventilation. Sea going cooks will be impressed.

Two double aft cabins are comfortably wide and have useful clothes storage space and dressing area. Forward in the port hull is the heads and wet locker and a navigation area is in the central section of this hull.

The spacious cockpit is dry and the two very comfortable side seats with upholstered back rests are well protected from the weather. Forward visibility is excellent.

Steering is by tiller and the semi balanced rudders make light work of steering. The cruiser/racer Sagitta has LAR keels as standard but a dagger board option is available for the racing enthusiast.

The standard engine option is for a 4 stroke outboard fitted in a cockpit well and this can be linked to the rudders to make manoeuvring under engine easier. Alternative engine options are available.

On deck there are numerous cockpit and deck lockers to provide ample stowage for all necessary equipment, anchors, etc. Sail handling can be carried out from the foot of the mast at the forward end of the spacious cockpit. Sagitta tacks easily and has a comfortable motion. Her underwater clearance means there is no bridgedeck slam when cruising.

For sailors requiring even more internal space, cabin extensions are available. Open bridgedeck versions can also be built. The choice is yours.

There are approaching 50 Sagittas sailing in different parts of the World, from Mauritius to Helsinki, and including over 20 in the rugged South African coastal conditions. Ocean voyages, South Africa to Mauritius and Helsinki to Greece, have been achieved.

We can build to various stages ranging from bare hulls to a complete boat or we can hire out the moulds to be used on site with the option of renting a shed to build in. Please ask for prices.
